Obi Worldphone which was co-founded by former Apple CEO John Sculley, launched the two smartphones last year which were remarkable device. Now Obi has launched its new smartphone which is MV1 at the MWC 2016. Obi partnered with Ammunition, a San Francisco-based design studio, for its Worldphone series, which resulted in devices like SF1, SJ1.5 and now MV1. At the first look to the MV1 it doesn’t look much different from the phones launched last year by Obi. It is a combination of looks from SF1 and SF1.5 which are immersed in MV1, featuring the same floating glass display on the rectangular poly-carbonate body.
Robert Brunner, Ammunition founder and Obi lead designer said that “For our markets, the design of the MV1 is a fresh, modern breath of air in a sea of sameness. Its combination of simple form, iconic outline and resolved details make it an object to be desired”.
John Sculley said “The components for all these different phones are mass produced, in the same countries, and often in the same exact factories. What we’ve done with the Obi Worldphone from the very beginning is show that it’s possible to have a beautifully designed phone that fits into your lifestyle at an accessible price without sacrificing form and technology. You don’t have to give up style in exchange for substance. With the MV1, you can have both.”
Obi MV1 is one the smartphone of new generation as it has dual OS, which can either run Android 5.1 Lollipop which provides all the reliability and ease you’ve come to know and love or Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 which opens up new avenues of personalization and security like PIN scramble, privacy guard and protected apps., and the UV coating on the Gorilla Glass. MV1 features a 5-inch display having resolution of 720x1280p which is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is having a oleophobic coating on the screen which keeps the screen looking new and smudge-free.
Obi MV1 smartphone is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor coupled with the RAM having options of 1 GB and 2 GB. along with Adreno 304 GPU for better graphics. Both models have 16GB internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB with the help of a microSD card. It is having 8MP rear camera with LED flash, OmniVision OV8865 sensor, f/2.2 aperture and feature like panorama, face detection and continuous scene while its front facing camera is of 2MP.
